Electric Eel Slithers Back onto Course

We’d bet money that when you were deciding to tackle Tough Mudder you talked about our shockingly good finisher obstacle, Electroshock Therapy. Is it really 10,000 volts? Does it hurt? How will we get through it? But we’d also take a guess that you didn’t think to consider Electroshock’s ugly big brother, Electric Eel.

Because how do you make an obstacle that shocks participants at random with 10,000 volts of electricity even more terrifying? Well, you add water.

What is Electric Eel?

Yes, we decided to collectively ignore our science teacher who said water and electricity don’t mix and create an obstacle that’s all about overcoming your fear… and moving quickly.

We’ve taken the wiggling wires of Electroshock Therapy and hung them over a shallow pit of water. Mudders will need to drop to the ground, channel their inner eel and slither the length of the obstacle and attempt to dodge the wires. Want to know when Electric Eel is coming on course? Just listen for the screams.

How to Tackle Electric Eel

If beads of sweat are starting to trickle down your back then pull yourself together Mudder. Here are our top tips for overcoming Electric Eel.

  1. Getting down on the ground and entering the obstacle is the first step. Fear, real-keep-you-alive-fear will be telling you to run in the opposite direction. But you’re too tough for that.
  2. Keep your body flush to the ground. Like when you’re planking your backside is going to creep upwards and so is your head, as your eyes focus on the end point. But the key is to keep every single part of you as close to the ground as possible.
  3. Move. Move with speed but don’t thrash. Army crawling is the safest way out but focus on keeping your moment smooth. Too much jerking around and your bound to touch a wire.

Think you could take on Electric Eel? Step up to the plate and book your Tough Mudder ticket today.
